I did a little better, making it halfway through the second paragraph before it dawned on me. A sign of the insanity of the times. Brutal and hilarious.
One other element that kept the regional trade flourishing was that the sub-Saharan migrants to North Africa were so enthusiastic about their new vocations in the mines and quarries of their Arab benefactors, that they often forgot to rest, or eat and drink sufficiently to remain viably able-bodied for a long period. Fortunately, the benevolent sultans or whatever they were identifying as at the time, had instituted their own version of Canada's MAID program, being enlightened so far ahead of their time.
Some were yes. Slavery was pretty much the norm throughout history and across the globe until the 19th Century, and the book was about the little discussed but vast trade in the Islamic world.
Would you please define "key operators" in the context of your question? My understanding is that Jews played a very minor, peripheral role in the transatlantic slave trade. I'd be interested to know if there's something I've missed.
Given that they are behind every negative thing that has ever happened in human history, there's no need to nitpick over inanities like historic fact!! ;p
Honest to God I was many paragraphs in before I recognized satire…that speaks to the level of academic insanity we are living with now. SMH.
Thank you for sticking with it!

It really does read like a Queer Theory thesis written by a Gender Studies major.
It’s such great writing. As always. Creative and clever.
Such tragic lives. Hard to accept that people had to live like that.
And yet people excuse it and today turn their heads away to focus exclusively on we all know what.
Because it puts “first world problems” into context. And that obligates us to do better because we were given more.
He's that good.
I tremble in anticipation at a future that might see me elevated to concubine, or if my gender identity flexes, a eunuch. I submit to the glory.
You’re gonna love it!
Larry, same here!

Wonderfully queer insight
These harems were such open safe-spaces for womenx and eunuchsx! Sooooo progressive!
Thank you for your powerful and illuminating work on decolonizing slavery
This is a masterpiece of satire.
I especially enjoyed the repurposing of that toothless phrase, "ways of knowing."
I was about to get pissed off when I decided this must be a parody of woke BS history. God I hope so...
Hilarious!
Droll satirical orientalism.
This was soup herb.
Ha Ha. Very funny except for the fact that this book is attacking the positions you're accusing it of advocating.
Seriously, I am afraid to subscribe.
You do know Jews were key operators in the trans Atlantic slave trade, right?
Some were yes. Slavery was pretty much the norm throughout history and across the globe until the 19th Century, and the book was about the little discussed but vast trade in the Islamic world.
Black people white people ... what's your poiht?
